Marseille, a city of football, was all waiting to celebrate their 11th cup. I was there down the streets with them.
21 TGV fast trains and 100 buses carried 20,000 Marseillian to Paris to watch their team 18th final. The Velodrome was full of people watching the game over a huge screen. The rest of the city was down town filling every cafe, restaurants, bars that has a TV set open. Needless to say they were all broadcasting the game. Those that didn't have a TV closed earlier (no customers). People was all over the Vieux Port (The city old harbor), most of them in front of the OM cafe blocking the street. The police was also there of course, waiting, whatever happen they were supposed to be very busy, paramedic also and the media, TV, Radio, and newspapers, all waiting down the street.
{mosimage}{mosimage}{mosimage}{mosimage}The game was awful but a real thriller, 1-1, 2-2 and 4-4 in the penalties, until the final shot, that send 800,000 people in Marseille and many more in the surrounding, home depressed.
I am not a fan of OM, but I am a big fan of this amazing city, that live and love football, I have never seen better fan then the Marseillian. I have seen them watch a game with hope even though their team is loosing 4-0, and bravely and masochistically they stayed all the way to the end.
This city deserve a better team ! This team is a money maker, it should have a better management it should have better players. the current team lack any talent, Frank Ribery is not a talent he is a hard labour, and please don't mention the guy with the funny hair, he is not a football player, he should be a hair dresser. The Sold-not sold ping pong in the past few months didn't help the team also. I hope someone smart will understand that a strong team in Marseille is good to the France football and will be extremely good for his pocket. With these fans you can never loose.
